Company Overview

KNIPEX was established in 1882 when Carl Gustav Putsch and his apprentices began creating pliers in Wuppertal, Germany. For more than 140 years, KNIPEX has continued to pursue the art of crafting the finest hand tools possible. While manufacturing remains in Wuppertal, the KNIPEX brand has expanded with locations globally and remains the market leader in professional pliers. KNIPEX Tools North America began as a small operation in 2004 with just a few sales team members. By 2017, the organization grew large enough to require its own office and distribution center. Since then, our growth has accelerated, propelling the company to triple its size in the span of a few years. Located in the Chicago suburb of Buffalo Grove, IL, the North American distribution center serves as the receiving location for all KNIPEX pliers exported from Germany. Once items arrive, they are stored, packaged, and shipped out to customers across a variety of trade professions.
